Jake's World Cup Predictor Blog

A World Cup blog for predictions and any other random thoughts that I might have over the next 6 weeks or so. Should be updated with scores, predictions and rants about poor refereeing, lucky Germans and why we can't take penalties.

England v Trinidad & Tobago 2-0

I'll be watching this game with Andy, so am expecting some first rate hospitality.
Everyone has an England win:
Andy 2-0, Jake & Tim 3-0, Stu 3-1, Phil & Steve 4-0
Pants! Andy & I did not enjoy this game - we were rubbish. They had better improve as either Germany or Ecuador - neither of whom are exactly brilliant will knock us out.
Pts for everyone - but Andy gets 5, everyone else 4 except Stu who gets 3.

Am looking forward to some great hospitality at my place too. Failing that, I think this could well be a great match to watch, given England's underperformance against Paraguay and T&T's overperformance against Sweden. England have always tended to make hard work of the group phases of major competitions, leaving it to the last match to seal progression, but I can't see today's result being anything less than an England victory. A win today would give England every chance of avoiding the Germans in the next round too (feel free to comment on the accuracy of this Phil!).

Hopefully we'll see young Theo make it onto the pitch at some point today, and it would be good to have Roonaldo on too. Walcott has come a long way since Jake and I watched his first appearance in a senior shirt less than a year ago (vs Motherwell, pre-season). Makes me wonder what I've managed to achieve in the last year... still waiting for that phone call from Sven. I think the chances of me making it as a professional footballer and playing for England are beginning to fade...
