Jake's World Cup Predictor Blog

A World Cup blog for predictions and any other random thoughts that I might have over the next 6 weeks or so. Should be updated with scores, predictions and rants about poor refereeing, lucky Germans and why we can't take penalties.

Day 4 standings

1 Jake 31
2 Andy 30
3= Steve 25
3= Tim 25
5 Phil 24
6 Stu 22

Now that is funny!

Just got back home to catch MarkLawrenson (yes, BBC pundit) reading the story in CBBC's bedtime hour......he's about as good at telling stories as he is a pundit. Someone's having a laugh...

Cyclist with an England top...in Edinburgh. Are you mad?!

Cycled to work in an England top this morning. Always funny seeing what kind of reaction you get (especially from drivers who have the potential to run you off the road...).

Saw Phil's wife driving through Bruntsfield...waved frantically at her but she completely blanked me. I'll put it down to the fact that she probably doesn't know I possess an England top, or that I'd be stupid enough to be wearing one here, and didn't recognise some crazy fool gesticulating wildly at her as she negotiated turning right.... mind you I'm sure I could lip-read the words "tosser".....

Italy v Ghana 2-0

Italy v Ghana

1st ever meeting of these countries (it's amazing what useless facts the BBC website gives you)
Here are the points of the judging panel.....
Jake 2-0, Stu 1-1, Tim 1-0, Steve 1-1, Andy 3-0, Phil 3-0

A typical Italian performance - my first 5pts, Phil, Andy & Tim all score 4pts. Steve & Stu zero.

USA v Czech Republic 0-3

USA v Czech Republic
Phil going against the flow.....
Jake 0-1, Stu 1-2, Tim 2-2, Steve 1-3, Andy 1-2, Phil 2-1

Results: Jake & Steve 4pts, Stu & Andy 3pts, Phil & Tim 0 . This boy looks a bit handy - and a snip at £7 million. Arsenal supporters will be very happy bunnies.

Australia v Japan 3-1

Predictions for this afternoon's game between Australia v Japan are as follows:
Jake 1-1, Stu 2-1, Tim 2-1, Steve 3-1, Andy 3-1, Phil 2-0.

So, majority going for Aussie win, with Tim going for Japan. Correction - Tim actually had an Ozzy victory - I managed to get the score the wrong way round.

If I was Japanese I think I'd be reaching for my samurai sword right now....how to throw away 3pts....deary me.

Andy's on fire with 5pts, Steve gets 5, Tim & Stu 4, Phil 3 and Jake 1. Andy now takes over top spot, and is going for a hat-trick of exact correct predictions with USA v Czech republic
