Jake's final 16 (Argentina to win)

From my Group matches, here's how they'll line up for the last 16.
There are no African teams. Sorry Africa....
I'll put the winners in red:

Argentina v Brazil

My head tells me that Brazil will win - they are the best team with the best players, but I think that everyone else will be predicting them to win - so, for once, I'm ging to be different.
Besides, it'll be a bit boring if they won the thing yet again. Give someone else a chance!
Of course I'd love to see England win it - with a bit of luck it's possible - but they are certainly not favourites as we tend to get stage fright as the tournament goes on.

Group H - Jake's predictions

This could be a very exciting group. Perennial underperformers Spain and newcomers Ukraine to go through - but either could come unstuck against Tunisia who could easily cause a surprise. I think Spain could get dumped out at this stage - but I'm not brave enough to put that down on paper. Watch me weep when Tunisia knock them out...Ukraine to win group on goal difference.

Group G - Jake's pedictions

If France can't get out of this group then something is really wrong! They'll win every game- and I think Switzerland will have enough to get past South Korea and Togo(!?)

Group F - Jake's predictions

Brazil to get knocked out at the group stage....just kidding. Australia could cause a shock - but I think they are a team full of players with lots of talent, but who can only be bothered to play for about 20-25% of the time (Viduka, Kewell et al). If the mood takes them they could do well. But it won't and they won't.
Croatia to come second. Japan....I'm guessing that they're not that good (or at least not as good as Brazil & Croatia)

Group E - Jake's predictions

This group might be quite tight. I'm going for Czech Republic to win the group with Italy going through - but won't be surprised if Ghana or USA caused a shock.
But I'm playing safe and going with history.

Group D - Jake's predictions

No brainer for this one. Portugal & Mexico. Easy. Surely?

Group C - Jake's predictions

This should be the most exciting group - with 4 very tidy teams. However, I'm going to be predictable and go for Argentina and Holland to get out of the so-called "group of death".
Watch out for a five goal thriller between Argentina & Ivory Coast - and for the Ivory Coats to get lots of bookings....

Group B - Jake's predictions

England to win the group. Sweden second. They'll play out a meaningless draw in the final game. This has disaster written all over it - but when you look at our team - and that of the opposition, we really ought to get out of the group without too many problems. Sweden have a good record against us - but 2nd would mean us playing Poland or Germany - and I'd fancy our chances against either team. Now I've said that, watch Paraguay & Trinidad beat everyone....

Group A - Jake's predictions

Sadly, I'll be going for Germany to win this group. Home advantage will help - and I'll be cheering for their opponents in every match - but I just can't see them going out in the group stages...Poland will join them on level points and will lose top spot due to goal difference. They will play England in the last 16.
